About

Kangela is an art project by Angel Torticollis. She appeared in his life at 44 y.o., out of nowhere and as a joke, and very soon she became an important presence in the queer scene of Athens. After living in London and being involved in various other projects, having a fashion background and a twisted imagination, Angel created this psychedelic housewife that somehow resonates to very diverse crowds. She is sarcastic, funny, political, stylish, kitsch, and most of all arty. In the first two years of her existence she managed to perform at the National Opera, The Onassis Foundation, the Athens School of Fine Arts, the Athens and Cyprus Pride stages, she even taught a workshop at the Barcelona Museum of Modern Art. She has released two songs, the second being a queer political anthem and runs a monthly cabaret night for queer talent that has attracted performers from all over the world.
